London Jazz Festival 2008

Jez Nelson marks the start of the London Jazz Festival 2008, with sets from Ken Vandermark and his band, Tom Cawley's Curios, Vincent Herring and his Quartet, plus Steve Bernstein.

Jez Nelson hosts a special edition of the programme from Ronnie Scott's jazz club to mark the opening of the 2008 London Jazz Festival. With exclusive performances from some of the week's most sought after acts, this line-up illustrates the strength and diversity of the current contemporary scene.

Ken Vandermark's group features left-field drum and bass pair Mark Sanders and Barry Guy, and Tom Cawley's Curios, named Best Band at this year's Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jazz Awards, provide their own British take on the piano trio. US altoist Vincent Herring appears with his Quartet, while percussion and sax duo Terje Isungset and Karl Seglem bring the sounds of Scandinavia. Plus Steve Bernstein with his quirky nine-piece Millennium Territory Orchestra and their US 'territory' dance bands-influenced jazz.
