Should people found drunk in public be seen by the NHS rather than put in a police cell?
Scotland's police watchdog has called for people found drunk and incapable in a public place to be referred to the ambulance service rather than put in a police cell. HM Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland also says the drinks trade should help foot part of the bill for people found "drunk and incapable". Do you agree? And are we too quick to view people with a drink problem as a social ill rather than victims of an illness?
