Featuring current Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ New Generation Artists Eduard Kunz (piano), Elizabeth Watts (soprano), Gwilym Simcock (piano) and Sharon Bezaly (flute) in works by Mozart, Strauss, Roussel.
The Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme exists to provide support to some of the brightest talents in the world of classical music, and in the nine years of its existence has numbered artists such as the Belcea String Quartet, Paul Lewis, Janine Jansen and Alice Coote among its distinguished members.
In the third of four lunchtime programmes this week, we hear studio and live concert performances by some of the scheme's current members, including today the Russian pianist Eduard Kunz in a set of Mozart variations, British soprano Elizabeth Watts in songs by Strauss, Israeli flautist Sharon Bezaly (with soprano Barbara Hendricks) in music by Roussel, and improvisations by jazz-pianist Gwilym Simcock.
