Community-based sentences for low-level offenders in Scotland could be used to help address labour market shortages, according to the justice secretary. Kenny MacAskill said some offenders could become involved in major building projects, such as developments for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. But should prisoners be incarcerated rather than given jobs?

The head of a sexual health charity says that it's easy for society to forget the "human stories" behind teenage pregnancies. Caledonia Youth say young women in deprived areas are up to five times more likely to become teenage mothers, compared to those in affluent areas. So do we need to think more positively about young parents?
