The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic under Vasily Petrenko perform the world premiere of Kenneth Hesketh's Graven Image, followed by Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 4, with Paul Lewis.

Presented by Martin Handley, from the Royal Albert Hall, London.

In Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture, the city's orchestra celebrates its relationship with young Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko. He teams up with two other young artists: Liverpool composer Kenneth Hesketh, who has written a brand new work for this Prom, and pianist Paul Lewis who joins the orchestra in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 4 - a work which Liszt likened to Orpheus taming the savage beasts.
