Robert Nesta Marley is still the only developing world artist to have achieved global superstar status. Dr Jason Toynbee, Lecturer in Media Studies in the Department of Sociology at the Open University and the author of Bob Marley: Herald of a Postcolonial World? explains how the artist achieved that distinction.
