Michael Freedland goes on the trail of Bing Crosby, which leads from his birthplace in Tacoma, Washington, to St Paul's Church in Westwood, Los Angeles, where he is buried.

There are no famous 'talking heads' – instead, Michael meets up with the restaurateurs, barmen, barbers, butlers, caretakers and musicians who had been an integral part of the phenomenon.
