Sardines

Author Tim Pears recalls making a meal of potatoes, a tin of sardines and an unidentified herb in a makeshift pan. From 2007.

French chef Alexis Gauthier recreates a meal of tinned sardines, stolen potatoes and an unidentified herb, first eaten by author Tim Pears and his friend when hitch-hiking in the South of France as teenagers in 1977.

A series in which a chef helps a writer recall the powerful memories forever associated with a dish first tasted during the long, hot days of summer.
