John Harvey, Online Publishing, Parent Writing Partnerships, and H Rider Haggard
Mariella Frostrup talks to John Harvey, the winner of this year's Diamond Dagger Award, which recognises sustained excellence in crime writing.
John Harvey
John Harvey, the creator of detectives Charlie Resnick, Frank Elder and now a new police team Will Grayson and Helen Walker, talks to Mariella about giving a policeman a convincing work-life balance, why he always returns to Nottingham in his fiction and what recognition from his peers means to him.
Online publishing
Authors Simon Spurrier and Julian Gough have both chosen to publish their books online, before making them available in the more conventional paper form. They're joined by publisher Piers Blofeld to discuss why they all believe the internet is going to change the face of publishing.
Parent-writing partnerships
When journalist and novelist James Long decided to write a history book he asked his son, Ben, to help him write it. He talks about how their writing partnership worked along with mother-daughter writing teams PJ and Traci Lambrecht, who write thrillers under the name PJ Tracy and Louisa and Isabel Young who write as Zizou Corder.
H Rider Haggard
Two new editions of Rider Haggard's 1885 adventure story King Solomon's Mines come out this year. Mariella talks to huge Rider Haggard fan, novelist Kate Mosse.
