Pam Ayres visits the Devon setting for the disastrous D-Day landing rehearsals of 1944. Pam talks to two American ex-servicemen and the locals of Slapton Sands who had to vacate their farms and villages in preparation.

Series in which poet and raconteuse, Pam Ayres takes to the open road, visiting eight places in Britain to hear tales from the people who live there.
