The team are on the road to help in the final stages of a new community garden in Aberfeldy. These gardens are designed and built by a community, with a help from the Beechgrove.
In the second community garden of the series, the whole Beechgrove team are on the road to help in the final stages of a new community garden in Aberfeldy. The community gardens are where a community design and build a garden for themselves with a little help from the Beechgrove.
Since 1996, over 150 community gardens have been created in this manner across Scotland.
The community garden will form the next stage in the development of the Breadalbane Land Based Vocational Curriculum. This is a pilot programme run by the Academy and a very visual way of showing how vocational training works.
Initially set up to encourage young people to recognise career opportunities within the lands based sector, it's gone from strength to strength. Since the start of the project horticulture has been added to the curriculum doubling the number of students on the programme. The garden that they want to create is a practical productive garden but will also be an attractive place for locals and visitors to the area to enjoy.
