Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield in a game that could have a significant bearing on the outcome of the title. The home side knocked Sir Alex Ferguson’s team out of the FA Cup on this ground last season but haven’t beaten the Red Devils at Anfield in a league game since 2001. Rafa Benitez’s men will hope to put that right with victory here.
Champions Chelsea will travel to Portsmouth in confident mood, having won on their last five league visits to Fratton Park stretching back to 1987, while Arsenal will look for three points at home to Reading.
At Vicarage Road it’s Watford against Charlton, with both teams desperate for the points in their battle to avoid relegation, while Martin O’Neill’s Aston Villa travel to the capital to take on Fulham.
There’s a North-East derby at St James’ Park, where Newcastle face Middlesbrough and elsewhere, Manchester City host Wigan while Sheffield United welcome Everton to Bramall Lane.
