Peggy's on full alert at the cricket dinner.

Ed confirms that the milk taint has gone and he's pleased that Joe's advice worked.

It's the cricket club dinner and everyone is hoping that Jack will cope with it all. David and Alistair agree to play it by ear if he is at all distressed. Jack finds it very difficult at first but warms to the occasion when he realises he can remember a lot of the old stories. He is thrilled to have the pavilion named after him, and to receive his special signed bat.

They've had a lovely time and Peggy is proud of him. But as they go home the memory is already fading for Jack, who starts to talk about it as if it was his birthday party.

Peggy tells Eddie that there is a tradition that you can have a day off from your Lenten fast on Sundays. Eddie is filled with hope but Clarrie puts her foot down. The sponsors she's collected would never put up with it. If he's giving up alcohol for Lent, he's doing it properly.
