Explore the Welsh coast this summer

Stretching for nearly 900 miles, the Wales Coast Path runs the entire length of the country and around each bay and bend is a site to behold.
From Fairboune to Fishguard, Llandudno to Llantwit Major, there are some of the most picturesque coastal locations to visit.
Here’s eight amazing walks you can try this summer.
Newport to Fishguard
Beginning in Parrog, Newport’s 12th Century Norman habour, this stunning walk combines pretty coves, small beaches and breathtaking views. This ten mile walk takes you to Fishguard via Cwm Yr Eglwys and Pwllgwaelod with sites including Cat Rock, the Fishguard Fort and Dinas Head.
Porth Neigwl to Abersoch
Follow the Wales Coast Path from the beach at Porth Neigwl heading south around the Mynydd Cilan headland, onto Porth Ceiriad, before turning north to the popular seaside resort of Abersoch. Point of interest along this route include the Porth Neigwl Dunes, St Tudwal’s Island and Penrhyn Du Engine House.
Port Talbot to Swansea Marina
Running from the beach in Aberavon, Port Talbot, this walk heads west along the Wales Coast Path to the stunning Swansea Marina. It takes in sections of the Neath River and Tennant Canal, as well as one of Europe’s most important wetland sites, Crymlyn Bog.
Cwm Ivy to Llanrhidian
Starting at Llanmadoc Church, this walk follows a less popular and quieter stretch on the north side of the Gower Peninsula. It crosses spectacular saltmarshes, passing Weobly Castle before concluding in the pretty historic village of Llanrhidian.
Deganwy to Llandudno
Start at the western end of Deganwy, through West Shore and around the Great Orme, before dropping down into the beautiful seaside town of Llandudno. It’s a distance of around 7 miles depending on where you finish and along the way you’ll see the Hornby shipwreck, St Tudno’s Church, the Alice in Wonderland trail and Llandudno Pier.
The section from West Shore to Llandudno, around the Great Orme, is wheelchair and pushchair friendly.
Porthkerry to Llantwit Major
From the viaduct in Porthkerry Park, this walk heads west along the Wales Coast Path to the beach in the historic town of Llantwit Major, one of Britain’s most important religious towns. As well as World War 2 military defences and the pretty pebble beach at Summerhouse Bay, your walk will take in sites including the Porthkerry Viaduct, Rhoose Point and Fontygary Bay.
Dale to Westdale Bay
This circular walk of the Dale Peninsula follows the Wales and Pembrokeshire Coast Path, starting in the village of Dale and looping around the Peninsula in a clockwise direction to finish by the sandy beach of West Dale Bay. It’s a walk with dramatic cliffs, rich heritage and spectacular views and sites including the Victorian Dale Fort, as well as Mill Bay where Henry Tudor landed with his army before taking the English crown.
Fairboune to Penmaenpool
Surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park, this walk takes in the spectacular Gwynedd coastline, starting in the village of Fairbourne. It heads along Barmouth Bay before turning to follow the course of the Mawddach Estuary along a section of the Mawddach Trail, as far as the pretty village of Penmaenpool. Along the way you’ll see the Fairbourne Miniature Railway and ancient ship moorings along the Mawddach.
