Terms and Conditions
1. To enter you must be aged 18 or over, located in Preston – defined for the purposes of this competition as the area between the River Ribble and the city’s surrounding motorways – on the morning of Friday 6th September and be able to be in Preston 6th, 7 and 8th September, and must not be a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Group company employee or anyone connected with the competition. Proof of age and eligibility may be requested.
2. The competition will be played during the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2 breakfast programme on 6th September 2024 (unless editorial requirements lead to a change in schedule or a change in programme content).
3. During the programme, listeners will be invited to listen for a ‘cue to call’ piece of audio. When this is played, listeners are invited to call in and register to play. Lines will open when the cue to call starts and remain open for 30 minutes. When listeners get through, they will have to correctly answer the qualifying question. Eligible callers with the correct answer to the qualifying question will be scored based on their enthusiasm and desire to win the tickets. The phone operators will shortlist a selection of entrants with the highest overall scores. A group of qualifying highest scoring callers will then be selected from this screening, rang back, and assigned individual numbers. If the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is unable to contact any of the selected entrants after reasonable attempts, another entrant will be selected based to take part in their place based on the scores. Entrants must be available at the address given for the duration of the competition. If the entrant is not available, the production team will move on to the next highest scoring entrant. On-air, the team will use a random number generator to select a number corresponding to one of the selected entrants which will be the winner.. The tickets will be delivered to the winner live on-air by Richie Anderson and Jeremy Vine and the “Ticket Tuk Tuk” at their location.
4. Registration to take part in the competition is only available by using the following method:
by phoning 08000 288 291 during the registration period described above. Calls are free from landlines and mobiles. No other method of entry will be accepted. You may enter once (one entry per person) – any additional entries will not count.
5. The phone from which the call is made in the registration process must be the entrant’s phone. The entrant must be entering on their own behalf. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who did not register using their own phone, who answered a call to someone else’s phone or who has someone else answer their phone on their behalf. Further the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reserves the right to disqualify an entrant if it discovers the information provided in the registration process is incorrect. This may mean that a winner is disqualified for not providing the correct information for verification purposes, that prize will go back into the pot and a subsequent round of the competition will take place as soon as possible.
6. The prize is a pair of tickets to Radio 2 in The Park in Preston on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th September and Sunday 8th September 2024. There is no cash alternative, and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances. The Ticket Tuk Tuk does not form part of the prize.
7. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s decision as to prizes awarded is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
8. The prize is as described above. You must read the prize description carefully before entering the competition. The prize may require collection or additional actions to be taken for fulfilment. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is not responsible for winners failing to follow instructions. There will be no additional elements, fees or expenses covered (including but not limited to travel) unless expressly stated in the prize description.
9. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is not responsible for any element or change to the prizes or access to the prizes that are outside of its control, such as travel disruptions. If the ice cream fails to arrive at the winner’s location for reasons beyond the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s control the winner stands and alternative delivery of the prize will be arranged.

11. If the winners and/or their guest (if applicable) have any health or accessibility requirements, these need to be disclosed to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ prior to prize fulfilment. In order to fully experience the prize that includes experiences or ticketed events, there may be some Health & Safety requirements imposed by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, the promoter or the venue. These will need to be followed prior to those elements being experienced. The winner and their guest (if applicable) must also comply with the health, safety and security policies at any venue associated with the prize.
12. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will not be responsible for any failure of the winners and/or guests (if applicable) to gain entry or re-entry to the event due to their behaviour or failure to meet the admission requirements. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will not be responsible for the suspension or cancellation of events that may form part of the prizes, including through governmental restrictions.
13. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reserves the right to (i) amend these terms and conditions; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or brings the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ into disrepute; and (iii) disqualify an entrant or winner, withdraw or substitute any prize, should any entrant or winner at any stage exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behaviour (including, but not limited to being under the influence of alcohol, chemical substances or causing a nuisance).
14. Entrants will be invited to take part in any post-competition publicity.
15. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and to agree to be bound by them when registering.
16. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any entry not being properly registered.
17. To the extent permitted by law, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.
18. The promoter of the competition is the British Broadcasting Corporation and the applicable law is the laws of England and Wales.

What personal data will the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ collect and how will we use it?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will collect and process your personal data for the purposes of administering the telephony competition; keeping a record of winners for compliance and auditing purposes; to create broadcast content; and to provide the winner with their prize.
Personal data
Depending on the nature of the competition, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ may collect and process the following personal data about you:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Your age, or confirmation you are old enough to take part
- A broadcast recording of your voice
- Your opinions, answers to our questions and biographical information you may wish to share
We may also collect your email address or postal address if you are a winner so that we can send you your prize.
Who is the Data Controller?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.
Lawful basis for processing your personal data

Sharing your personal data
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and not independently of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. For telephony competitions we use a third-party telephony platform.
We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.
Retaining your personal data
Personal data stored on the telephone platform, such as contact telephone number and any call recordings will be kept for 12 months then deleted.
Other personal data from unsuccessful entrants will be retained for 12 months.
We keep records of winners and runners-up for two (2) years for auditing and compliance purposes.
If you appear on a broadcast, the programme will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ.
Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA).
Your rights and more information
You have rights under data protection law:
- You can request a copy of the personal data the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ stores about you.
- You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
- You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted, however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to refuse your request.
- In certain circumstances you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to the processing of your personal data.
- You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
