About Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic is one of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s six orchestras and choirs and annually undertakes a season at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall – one of its primary concert venues.

Why do we collect and use your personal data?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ will process the personal data about you to help us do our job and allow you to benefit from our services, such as to provide you with the best experiences and most relevant information. When we've collected it, here's how we use it:

  • We’ll send you promotional and marketing information via emails. These types of communications include informing you of events related to the orchestra such as concerts, events and broadcasts, news and updates about the orchestra.
  • We track the emails we send, such as records when an email from us is opened and/or how many links are clicked within the message in order to monitor the effectiveness of our communications, and improve our service. The data from this tracking is generally used in an aggregated and anonymised form.
  • We use your information to analyse our marketing performance to improve our services, for example, to reach wider audiences. If we do so, we will make sure that you won’t be individually identified by this information.
  • We will use your information to interact with you, as well as dealing with any questions or complaints that you raise.

What personal data is collected?
You must be 16 or over to sign up to receive the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic newsletter via the online web form at bbc.co.uk/myphilharmonic. The categories of personal data that we process include the following:

  • your full name
  • your email addresses
  • your postcode
  • your region
  • whether or not you reside in the UK
  • your age range
  • details of correspondence sent to you, or received from you

Who is the Data Controller?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data
We've got a good reason for using your personal data (the law calls it the ‘lawful basis for processing') and we've made sure that your rights are protected.

We rely on our “legitimate interest” to use the personal data about you to improve our service. When we send you promotional and marketing email, the lawful basis for this processing isβ€―called 'consent'. We can do this because you have given us permission to do so by subscribing to our newsletter service via our online web form at bbc.co.uk/myphilharmonic.

Do we share your personal data with others?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ works with our third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and not independently of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. We currently use third party data storage providers to store your data, we also use a company to deliver email newsletters to you.

We may also share personal data with third parties only where it is required or permissible by law.

Retaining your personal data
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by using the link at the foot of our emails and opt out of our promotional and marketing communications at any point or simply by contacting philharmonic@bbc.co.uk.

If you choose to opt out/unsubscribe, your details will be added to a suppression list and then deleted after 24 months.

Your rights and more information
You have under data protection law. You can request a copy of the personal data Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ stores about you.

You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to refuse your request.

In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or to object to the processing of your personal data.

You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
