No, only one entry per author is accepted per year. If an author/author's representative submits multiple stories, only the first story entered will be considered.
Why do I require a prior record of publication in the UK in order to be eligible?
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ National Short Story Award was set up to celebrate the unique and difficult art of short story writing and to find the very best of the genre in a way that paralleled the other major UK literary awards from the Booker to the Forward Prize, all of which require work to be published. We offer the equivalent recognition for the Short Story and those who practice it.
I have work published outside of the UK, does this make me eligible?
Unfortunately not. In order to be eligible for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ NSSA authors must have a prior record of publication in the UK. If you have been published internationally but not in the UK then this would be ineligible.
I am self-published, does this make me eligible?
As per the Terms and Conditions, self-publication does not meet the criteria for having a prior record of publication. Please see the Terms and Conditions for the full criteria.
My story has been previously published, am I able to enter it into the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ NSSA 2024?
Yes previously published works are eligible to be entered into the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ NSSA 2025, however they must have been first published after 1st January 2024. Stories first published before 1st January 2024 are not eligible.
