7 things you may have missed at Reading & Leeds 2022!

Reading & Leeds 2022 has brought us stunning performances from music's biggest stars. But it has also produced some great moments - both on stage and behind the scenes.

From surprise guests to great cover songs and more, here are some of the moments from the festival that you wouldn't have wanted to miss.

1. Bring Me The Horizon brought out a very special guest

Who ever thought we would see a collab between everyone's favourite guitar-wielding hitmaker Ed Sheeran and Sheffield rockers Bring Me The Horizon? Well that's what happened when the pair teamed up on a version of Ed's hit 'Bad Habits' earlier this year.

Having first performed together at the BRIT Awards, Bring Me The Horizon marked their Reading set on Saturday by bringing out Suffolk's finest, with frontman Oli Sykes calling Ed a "legend". Can't really argue with that.

2. Two of UK rap's greatest linked up

Ed wasn't the only special guest at the festival this year. On Friday night at Reading, Dave treated fans to two guest appearances during his stunning headline sets: from AJ Tracey and none other than Stormzy.

Dave's set felt like a genre-defining moment, quite like Stormzy's Glastonbury set in 2019, so it was fitting that the pair should combine on the Reading stage. We are also big fans of Stormzy's heart-shaped sunnies!

3. Wallows played a modern pop classic

Reading & Leeds was the first UK festival that California band Wallows have ever played, and if their upbeat power-pop wasn't good enough, they had another treat in the bag for fans.

At the end of their track 'Sun Tan', the group - led by actor Dylan Minnette - delivered a mini-cover of One Direction's 2011 pop classic 'What Makes You Beautiful', which obviously fans lapped right up.

4. Madison Beer inspired a footy chant

Having recently released a new song, 'Dangerous', from her upcoming second album, Madison Beer fans were out in force to see the American singer at Reading & Leeds.

The upcoming star played the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1 Dance Stage on Saturday at Reading, but hundreds flocked to Radio 1's pop-up photobooth at the festival to get an even closer glimpse at their idol - they even treated her to her own footy-inspired chant!

5. Glass Animals brought the Heat Waves

One of the biggest songs this year thanks to TikTok (and despite being released back in 2020), everyone was hoping Glass Animals were going to pull the massive hit 'Heat Waves' out of the bag at Reading & Leeds.

Thankfully, they did exactly that - and it was wonderful.

6. Wolf Alice recreated a throwback snap

Radio 1 has been longtime fans of Wolf Alice, and we have the receipts to prove it! We dug up this photo from 2015 of the band with former Future Sounds host Annie Mac.

Current Future Artists and Indie Show presenter Jack Saunders took the opportunity to recreate the shot in Annie's absence, with brilliant results.

7. We got to see our fave stars be real

The BeReal photo app is having a moment now so it was only natural that we asked some of the Reading & Leeds acts - including Griff, Ashnikko and Arrdee - to share some candid pics with us.

We're especially big fans of the bowl of marshmallows...
