Radio 1 Reading & Leeds Competitions Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

1. These competitions are open to all residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 16 or over, except Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ or Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Group Company employees, their close relatives or anyone connected with the competitions or the particular prizes being offered.

2. To enter the competition, entrants must phone into Radio 1 when they hear a ‘cue to call’, message which will be announced on-air via the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds stream of Radio 1. Entrants listening on FM/DAB will not hear the cue to call. Entrants will then have a 10 minute window from the moment the message announces that lines are open, and entrants must register for the competition within these 10 minutes. Entrants will need to convince the Radio 1 phone operators why they should be coming to Reading or Leeds Festival 2022. The Radio 1 phone operators will ask each entrant two questions and score each answer out of 5, for an overall score out of 10. The two questions are:

Who are you most excited to see at Reading/Leeds and why?
Who would you like to take with you, and why should it be you guys?

The entrant with the highest overall score will come on air to play a ‘name the artist’ music quiz for a chance to win 2 tickets to Reading or Leeds Festival, the choice of which will be the entrants depending on which festival site they’d like to go to. A back-up contestant will be selected for contingency purposes.

If the entrant gets the ‘name the artist’ music quiz wrong, they lose and the 2 tickets roll over to the next day.
There will be one competition round per day from Tuesday 16th to Friday 19th August.
Tickets from Friday 19th August will not roll but rather we will go to the next highest scoring callers until one entrant successfully completes the ‘name the artist’ game and wins the tickets.

3. Registration to take part in the competition is only available by using the following method:
by phoning 03700 100 100 during the 10 minute registration window described above. Standard geographic call charges apply. No other method of entry will be accepted.

4. In the ‘name the artist’ music quiz the entrant will have to identify the artist in a short song clip, and will have 5 (five) seconds to answer. If the entrant answers correctly, they will win 2 (two) tickets to Reading or Leeds Festival 2022. Once the competition has finished, the presenter will signpost any further opportunities to enter.

5. Winners are excluded from subsequent rounds of the competition, but entrants who do not win may enter subsequent rounds.

6. The Radio 1 Reading/Leeds competition will open Tuesday 16th August and run until Friday 19th August (inclusive). Competition rounds will run each day of this competition period. The number of rounds will be subject to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s discretion.

7. Throughout the competition, only listeners to Radio 1 via Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds will be able to hear the 'cue to call'. A 'password' will be announced as part of this 'cue to call' message, which entrants must state to Radio 1's phone handlers when they register. Radio 1 listeners will be told how they can download the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sounds app by the presenters in advance of this 'cue to call' announcement.

8. Each entrant must enter the competition on their own behalf, and register using their own phone. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reserves the right to disqualify any entrant.
