Get Nominating...... The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Food & Farming Awards

The UK isn’t short of food awards. All valuable, all interesting. BUT none of them change lives like The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Food & Farming Awards. These Awards are searching for the people and organisations who are upending the conventions through good food: creating jobs, boosting local economies and creating new models of production that will help save the planet and improve public health.

Consider Jeanette Orrey, dinner lady doing extraordinary things in ONE Nottinghamshire primary school. She won best cook in 2003. She then teamed up with Jamie Oliver to start a conversation about school food that’s still buzzing. Her common sense model of freshly cooked food made from local, seasonal ingredients set a new standard. She became an advisor to some of the most powerful food organisations in the country.

Consider My Cow Molly, the brand for a dairy farm outside Sheffield. They won in the future food category for the model they provided for hard-pressed dairy farmers: setting up their own pasteurisation plant and then selling directly to regional Coop stores, Sheffield University & most coffee shops in the city.

Consider the collection of bakers who have revolutionised—are still revolutionising—the bread we eat. Alex Gooch, Richard Bertinet, E5 Bakehouse, Earth’s Crust Bakery, Small Food Bakery, Scotland the Bread…all recognised in the awards, all game changers.

All of them came to us via you….without your nominations we’d never have heard of them. Help us find the new game changers. Help us to build a better country through good food. Nominate at www.bbc.co.uk/foodawards where you can find our terms and privacy notice. You have until just before midnight on the 27th June, and thank you.
