We’ve teamed up with four charities for the first part of #1millionhours, but there are so many organisations out there that also offer volunteering opportunities – we want you to pledge your time wherever you feel it will be best spent.

Do-it.org

Do-it.org believes volunteering can help solve society’s problems, and is the UK’s first and largest national database service for volunteering. They’ve been working for over 15 years to inspire, engage and connect millions of people with loads of good causes in their community.

vInspired

The energy, ideas and experiences of young people are at the heart of the work vinspired does. In 9 years, over a million inspiring volunteering opportunities for young people have been created, allowing people to make a big difference to the things they care about through online campaigns, volunteering with a charity, or by setting up social action projects. Volunteering Matters

Volunteering Matters focuses on the needs of four distinct communities; young people, disabled people, older and retired people and vulnerable families. They believe young people can make all the difference to communities – and lives – through volunteering. There are programmes to suit you no matter whether you want volunteer for a few hours a month, or take up a full-time opportunity.

Student Hubs

University is the perfect time to get involved with the things that matter. Student Hubs exist to encourage students to take part in social action projects and gain valuable life skills. There are ten student-led hubs in ten universities and they run various projects that help their communities - from tutoring school children, to helping the elderly to engaging with environmental challenges. .

Team London

Team London is the Mayor of London's programme for volunteering and social action in the capital. Set up to capitalise on the immense success of volunteering during the 2012 Games, Team London is building the next generation of volunteers, connecting young people with their communities and giving them the skills, networks and experiences that they need to find work.

UK Community Foundations

There are 46 community foundations across the UK and UKCF is their umbrella organisation. They provide advice and support to our member community foundations and help UK-wide clients such as Big Lottery and Comic Relief channel funding, via community foundations, to where it’s needed most.
