First broadcast on 8 October 1961, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4's In Touch has been presenting news, views and information for people who are blind or partially sighted for the past five decades.
To celebrate the achievements of blind people, a special one-hour 50th anniversary episode of In Touch will be recorded in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Theatre, London, in front of a live audience. Peter White brings together an array of talented blind and visually impaired people from the world of music, politics and entertainment.
Among the many guests joining Peter to mark the occasion will be: singing sensation and winner of Channel 4's Operatunity, Denise Leigh; actor, Ryan Kelly, aka Jazzer in The Archers; author, Sue Townsend; and veteran broadcaster and comedian, Denis Norden.
Campaigner Jill Allen King MBE who lost her sight in the early Sixties talks about her experience of going blind – and David Blunkett MP on why he is now in touch with In Touch.
This special programme will be broadcast on Friday 7 October at 12noon on Radio 4.
