Press Release

Miranda Hart and Jon Holmes debut on Radio 2

On Wednesday 23 March, The Radcliffe And Maconie Show bade a fond farewell to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2 before transferring to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 6 Music, where they will broadcast from 1-4pm from Monday 4 April.

For three nights only, comedians Miranda Hart and Jon Holmes will present three two-hour shows on 28-30 March from 8-10pm before Jo Whiley takes over the hotseat on Monday 4 April from 8-9.30pm.

Miranda comments: "I am full of childish excitement to have the honour of joining the wonderful, and my favourite, Radio 2, for a few nights. Can I call myself a, what I call, disc jockey, now? I can't wait to chat to the Radio 2 massive at the end of March."

Jon comments: "Miranda and I have been conducting a clandestine affair for many years, so what better way to announce our union than by becoming broadcasting's latest romantically linked couple after Richard and Judy, Radcliffe and Maconie and Bernie Winters and Schnorbitz."

Miranda's award-winning television show began life on Radio 2 as Miranda Hart's Jokeshop, a four part series broadcast in 2008. The original radio show featured the same main cast as were to feature later in the TV series, including Sarah Hadland (Stevie – and co-writer), Tom Ellis (Gary) and Patricia Hodge (Penny). The television incarnation has gone on to win British Comedy Awards and RTS Awards.

Jon is a double Bafta Award-winning writer, comedian and presenter, whose careers ranges from co-creating the Radio 4 series Dead Ringers, to co-writing the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One children's favourite Horrible Histories. His current Saturday afternoon 6 Music show entertains listeners from 4-9pm with a heady mix of music and chat and features including "Ken Bruce Master".

Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes, Radio 2, is looking forward to the shows: "The opportunity to pair two of the UK's best loved comedy talents was irresistible to us and I'm very much looking forward to hearing their shows."

Monday's live guest will be Stephen Fry, and Tuesday's visitor will be Will Young.

Radio 2's commitment to comedy continues to flourish. The Radio 2 New Comedy Award, a nationwide search for the best new stand up comedy talent in the UK, has recently been launched by Patrick Kielty, and Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders presented three shows over Christmas and New Year to critical acclaim.

Comedians Graham Norton, Alan Carr and Paul O'Grady host weekend shows on the network, and Matt Lucas returns on Saturday 2 April for a second series of And The Winner Is…, the most prestigious awards ceremony of the year – the aptly-titled "Lucases".
