Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two's The Culture Show today revealed the names of 12 of Britain's brightest new writing talent in literary fiction as part of Books on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 2011.

The Culture Show formed a panel chaired by professor of English John Mullan to examine the debut novels of writers published in the last two years. The names were announced in advance of an exclusive programme due to air at 9pm on Saturday 5 March, contributing to an evening of books on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two.

Jim Powell – The Breaking of Eggs
Anna Richards – Little Gods
Eleanor Thom – The Tin-Kin
Evie Wyld – After The Fire, A Still Small Voice

New Novelists: 12 Of The Best From The Culture Show on Saturday 5 March, presented by John Mullan, will follow the in-depth discussion of the panel of judges as they narrow the list of new novelists down to just 12. Viewers will then be introduced to each of the writers and their work. The programme puts into context the writers and their works by exploring the literary landscape, its recent past and likely future. It also looks back at previous lists of new writers to see whether they fulfilled their early promise.

From the page-turning hilarity of Anna Richard's Little Gods to the poignant descriptions of a child's point of view in Stephen Kelman's Pigeon English each of the 12 novelists were chosen because they showed great promise in the field of literary fiction.
