Jim Davis is the new Mid-Morning presenter on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Leicester, launching his brand-new show on Tuesday 4 January, from 9am-12noon.
Jim, who listeners will already have heard on Radio Leicester presenting the Afternoon Show since last summer, is looking forward to bringing his own style to the station when he takes over the presenting reigns in January.
The new programme hopes to uncover some fascinating real-life stories from the people of Leicestershire and Rutland, discovering what makes these great counties tick and search out the stories that affect everyone's lives locally, ensuring that people have a place to go where they can air their views on an issue that impacts on them.
Jim is also a big music lover and a fantastic mix of music and entertainment chat is guaranteed, too.
Jim takes over presenting duties on the Mid-Morning Show from Tony Wadsworth, who is moving to present between 9am and 12noon on Saturdays and Sundays from 8th January 2011.
Jim says: "I'm incredibly excited about moving to present the Radio Leicester Mid-Morning show. I've listened to Tony Wadsworth for years and admired his skills as a broadcaster and his empathy with his guests. I've got a very big pair of shoes to fill and I'm really looking forward to it."
He adds: "Since joining the team here at Radio Leicester in the summer of 2010, Tony has been a huge support to me. His depth of knowledge of the people and places he broadcasts to is an inspiration. I will be working extremely hard to ensure our listeners enjoy the new show and if I can exhibit even half of Tony's passion I will be very pleased!"
Jim's interest in radio began when his cousin asked him to sit in on her Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ radio show in Cumbria. This sparked a life-long passion for radio broadcasting that has led to a wide-ranging and successful career.
He has previously hosted the breakfast show on Nottingham's Century FM in 2002, for two years; has also presented Heart Cambridge's breakfast show, presented on London's Heart 106.2; and presented at LBC radio in London for four years.
In addition to his radio career, Jim can also be heard as the voice of ITV1's live continuity announcements on Saturday and Sunday nights – introducing TV programmes such as The X Factor and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!
Kate Squire says: "I'm really excited by Jim's new Mid-Morning show. It promises to be a wonderful opportunity for listeners to interact on all sorts of topical issues.Β Jim's fresh, fun and knowledgeable.Β
"I'm confident our listeners will thoroughly enjoy the new show. JimΒ is a real talent and we're delighted he's returned to the region."
Radio Leicester broadcasts on 104.9FM, DAB Digital Radio and online via the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer.
