CBeebies celebrates viewers' birthdays on iPlayer

BAFTA's Children's Channel of the Year, CBeebies, is about to make viewers' birthdays even more special by making its popular birthday compilations available daily on the .

One of the most-cherished slots on CBeebies, the birthday slot sees the CBeebies presenters showing and reading out colourful home-made birthday cards sent in by families to their loved ones. Now, in response to popular demand, these compilations will be able to be viewed on CBeebies iPlayer – up to seven days after transmission – to ensure that birthday boys and girls don't miss their special moment.

Channel Controller, Kay Benbow, says: "We have listened to our audience feedback and are delighted to be able to offer this extended service to our viewers.

"The birthday slot is a way for us to make our viewers feel really valued and special and we are thrilled that we can make CBeebies even more accessible and make it easier for families to enjoy their special days."

In addition to the birthday cards on TV, viewers can also celebrate their special days by having a personalised birthday message from the CBeebies presenters on the website or by sending a personal message to CBeebies interactive TV (Red Button).

Notes to Editors

CBeebies is dedicated to delighting and surprising its young audience and it remains the UK's most watched and loved channel for the under-sixes, with almost half of the target audience tuning in each week (parents and carers with children aged 0-3 and four- to six-year-olds in digital homes).

Forty-on per cent of parents of children under-six say it is their children's favourite channel and 55% say it is one of their favourites. While commercial channels dedicate around 70 per cent of their airtime to animation, CBeebies dedicates 76 per cent to content which is not animation.

Favourite shows include In The Night Garden, I Can Cook, Something Special and Waybuloo. CBeebies in-house production has just launched a new music programme – Zingzillas – that has brought together the crème de la crème of the pre-school industry and is delighting audiences throughout the country.

The CBeebies website averaged just over 800k unique users last year and achieves one of the highest net promoter scores of all Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ websites (it holds the record for the highest recorded score of 83).

CBeebies has just been crowned Freesat's Children's Channel of the Year and BAFTA's Children's Channel of the Year.
