Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ

Superstar violinist Nicola Benedetti and presenter Kaye Adams help bring the curtain down on the world's largest music festival on Saturday 11 September, as they complete the line-up for the Scottish finale of this year's Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms.

Broadcast live from the at the Caird Hall, in Dundee, they join soprano Lesley Garrett, guitarist Paul Galbraith, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Garry Walker, and the specially assembled Dundee Proms Chorus.

This annual gala concert marks the conclusion of the annual Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms season and visits Dundee for the first time, bringing with it some of the magic of the Last Night of the Proms, but with a distinctly Scottish flavour.

Twenty-three-year-old Nicola Benedetti shot to international fame in 2006 when, in the company of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ SSO, she won the coveted title of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Young Musician of the Year. Now recognised as one of the finest musicians of her generation in the world, Nicola's virtuosity has made her one of Scotland's greatest musical exports.

Her appearance at the Last Night celebrations in Dundee comes fresh from her debut at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms in London where, once again, she was chaperoned by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ SSO, an orchestra with whom she enjoys a special rapport.

When asked about the orchestra, she said: "It's quite a laugh, actually! They're all such nice people, my kind of people. It's a very relaxed very supportive atmosphere – it really is a very comforting thing to see so many familiar faces."

The event will be presented in the Hall and for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TV by Kaye Adams, one of Scotland's most experienced TV and radio broadcasters. Kaye is well known to audiences for her weekday Radio Scotland programme, Call Kaye, and her many TV appearances including the daytime chat show Loose Women.

All the tickets for the concert have now been allocated, but those unlucky enough to miss out will still have the chance to join in via a giant screen located just outside the Caird Hall, in City Square. The live Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ TV broadcast of the concert will be relayed to the screen, provided by Dundee City Council.

Tickets for the outdoor Screen event are free of charge and, in keeping with the spirit of the Proms, there are standing "promenade" tickets with very limited seating capacity, which will be available on the night on a first come first served basis.

The concert also features the only performance of the Dundee Proms Chorus, a brand-new amateur choir created by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland especially for the night.

These 200 aspiring singers will join diva Lesley Garrett in songs from some classic musicals and operas and will lead the audience in a live link-up to London's Royal Albert Hall, live on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One, and to other venues across the UK.

For audiences who can't make it to Dundee, the concert will be broadcast live on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two Scotland, with a repeat showing on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four on Friday 17 September.

The concert will also be broadcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Scotland's Classics Unwrapped, on Sunday 12 September.
