New Managing Editor for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jersey

Jon Gripton has today (Thursday 19 August) been announced as the new Managing Editor for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jersey.

Jon will take over from Denzil Dudley, who retires in October after more than 30 years' service with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and 12 years with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jersey.

Jon joins the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ from Sky, where he has worked for the last 10 years, most recently as senior news editor for skynews.com.

He has extensive experience in local, regional, national and international news. He recently produced and led a Sky news expedition with the British Army to conquer the west ridge of Mount Everest – making television history as they became the first to broadcast live from Everest advanced base camp.

Prior to joining Sky, Jon was breakfast presenter at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wiltshire Sound (now Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wiltshire) as well as the station's deputy editor. He also worked as a reporter and producer for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ regional television news in the South West, based in Bristol.

Jon has also worked in commercial radio as programme controller and news editor at Red Dragon FM and Touch AM in South Wales.

He said: "I am very excited to be joining such a dedicated and successful team, as well as looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that working with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jersey will bring. I already regard what Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Jersey produce as fantastic – it really is a jewel in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ English Region's output.

"I am delighted to become part of that success, and look forward to helping them achieve even more."

Jane McCloskey, Head of Regional and Local Programming for the South West, said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jon to the team. He has a wealth of experience in network television news and he is no stranger to regional broadcasting. I know he will be a real asset to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ South West and will I'm sure build on Denzil's legacy in the Channel Islands.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Denzil for all his hard work and to wish him well for the future."

Jon is married, with a three-year-old daughter. He is also studying a BA in Social Sciences, Media and Economics with the Open University.
