Bold new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three drama pilots to premiere online

Holliday Grainger as Dirty Debbie in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's Stanley Park

Pulse, Dappers and Stanley Park are a collection of bold, new youthful drama pilots that will premier on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three website (bbc.co.uk/bbcthree) a week prior to transmission on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three.

Viewers will be given an exclusive opportunity to watch the pilots before they air on the channel and a chance to give their comments via the site's popular blog, demonstrating Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's commitment to experimentation and support for original UK drama.

Danny Cohen, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three, says: "We want to keep experimenting with the relationship between the web and TV, and these pilots provide a great opportunity to get the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three audience discussing our programmes and helping to plan our future."

The pilots offer an eclectic mix of drama, from medical horror Pulse to the exploits of single mums and best mates in Dappers and the life changing upheavals of a group of friends in Stanley Park.

Pulse is a tense supernatural drama written by Paul Cornell (Doctor Who, Primeval) and starring Claire Foy (Little Dorrit) as Hannah Carter. St Timothy's is one of the UK's top teaching hospitals, home to some of the country's most promising trainee doctors. But beneath its veneer of medical normality lies a secret network of dangerous experiments pushing back the boundaries of science with potentially horrifying consequences.

A year after the death of her mother, Hannah Carter (Claire Foy) returns to her mum's old teaching hospital to resume her medical training. But Hannah's still fragile, so when she glimpses strange events on the wards and troubling behaviour from her ex-boyfriend and star surgeon Nick (Stephen Campbell Moore) she's not sure what to believe. Ignoring the pleas of those around her, Hannah puts her sanity on the line to uncover the truth about the hospital.

Written by Catherine Johnson, best known for the film Mamma Mia, Dappers is a Bristol-based comedy drama that delivers a cheerful poke in the eye to all the negativity that surrounds single mums. Ashley (Lenora Crichlow) and Faye (Ty Glaser) are young mothers and best mates – dappers in their native Bristolian – who live in housing association flats in well-to-do Clifton. They're a pair of sparky chancers, devoted to their toddler daughters and fiercely loyal to each other. When not being ferociously competitive, they have high hopes of a better life and will stop at very little to achieve this – from Doggy Day Care to opening a pop-up restaurant. These Dappers share laughs, banter and bust-ups with a chirpy resolve and 'two fingers' to the snot-bags who've never dreamed.

Written by Leo Richardson and inspired by his stage play, Stanley Park is a sharply observed, character-based ensemble comedy drama. Set in a south London suburb, it tells the story of a group of young friends enduring the poignant, painful, hilarious and often confusing emotional upheavals during a life-changing period. It's hard to keep secrets when they're all living on the same street, and it seems everyone has something they're hiding, or hiding from. Stanley Park looks at the desperation, aspirations and motivations of this group of young people and their families in a moving and humorous way. The drama stars Sharon Horgan (Pulling) as Auntie Pat and Holliday Grainger (Five Daughters) as Dirty Debbie.

Sarah Clay, Head of Multiplatform commissioning, said: "We are really excited that these fantastic pilots will premier on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three website before they are on TV. EastEnders: E20 really proved there was a huge appetite to watch drama online and the opportunity to offer feedback on the content. These pilots are original and engaging and will definitely get our audience talking."

The dramas will premier online – Pulse on 27 May and Dappers and Stanley Park on 3 June.

The drama pilots were commissioned by Danny Cohen, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three and Ben Stephenson, Controller of Drama Commissioning.
