On Tuesday 4 May 2010, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1's Zane Lowe celebrates the comeback of highly-acclaimed British virtual band Gorillaz, with a two-hour-long special between 7-9pm.
The band, who are fronted by Blur's Damon Albarn, are currently back with their third studio album. They have sold out two dates at London's Roundhouse later this month and Radio 1 will be there to bring the music back to its listeners.
In this very special show, listeners will be able to hear the first UK radio interview with Damon and Jamie Hewlett – who together form the creative talent behind Gorillaz.
The second half of the show will feature one of their live gigs from the London Roundhouse. They'll be showcasing tracks from their latest album, Plastic Beach, as well as classics from Demon Days and their self-titled debut album.
Listeners will also enjoy special guest appearances from the new album, including Gruff Rhys, Kano, De La Soul, Sean Ryder, Mos Def and Little Dragon.
The interview with Damon and Jamie will also be filmed for bbc.co.uk/radio1.
Zane Lowe says: "I'm a massive Gorillaz fan and I can't wait to talk to them about the latest incarnation of this band, where they stand in terms of the music and the art and how they feel about the new album".
The special was announced during Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show on Tuesday 20 April (7-9pm).
