Today the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has published the business-related expenses of the 107 most senior decision-makers in the Corporation for the period July to September 2009. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has also published the Gifts & Hospitality Register for these senior managers covering the period April to June and July to September 2009.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is committed to publishing this information on a regular quarterly basis and today's information builds on the disclosures that the Corporation made in 2009.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ has gone beyond any other public body in organising the data. Rather than publishing spreadsheets, the details are published on the About The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ section of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ website.

This section offers specific information on each of the 107 senior managers in terms of leadership, financial and decision-making responsibility.

The information is published on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ website at bbc.co.uk/info/running/bbcstructure/.

Additionally the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ today publishes the total amount it pays to artists, presenters, musicians and other contributors across its services for the year ended March 31 2009.

The total amount the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ pays to artists, presenters, musicians and other contributors is Β£229m – 6.56% of the Licence Fee.

This total amount is broken down as follows:

To £50,000: £115m – 3.29% of the Licence Fee

£50,000 to £100,000: £44m – 1.26% of the Licence Fee

£100,000 to £150,000: £16m – 0.46% of the Licence Fee

£150,000 plus: £54m – 1.55% of the Licence Fee

Total: £229m – 6.56% of the Licence Fee

Caroline Thomson, Chief Operating Officer, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, said: "Artists, presenters, musicians and other contributors are central to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's ability to deliver high quality and distinctive programming and we know that audiences expect to see and hear them on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programmes.

"The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ engages some of the greatest performers in the world across television and radio, and also nurtures and develops people that will be at the heart of our programmes in the future. They add to the credibility, expertise and creativity of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ."

The total amount paid by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ to artists, presenters, musicians and other contributors will be published each year in the Annual Report.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is at the vanguard of public disclosure and is committed to greater transparency to show how the Corporation both operates and delivers value for money in terms of the Licence Fee. As such redactions have been kept to a minimum. Of the 2,832 lines of information released today, around 1% of the information has been redacted. Where redactions have taken place this is because the information is personal or business-sensitive.
