Comedian Chris Addison will host a new live topical news show 7 Day Sunday on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 5 Live from Sunday 10 January, part of the new-look schedule for 2010.
Every Sunday morning (11.00am-12noon) The Thick Of It star Chris Addison will be joined by special guests to pull apart the week's big news stories and see what makes them tick, as well as a trawl through the worlds of sport and entertainment.
Joining Chris for the opening programme are fellow comedians Andy Zaltzman, Sarah Millican, plus a special guest.
Chris Addison says: "I think what's been missing from Sunday morning radio is a programme where four relatively ill-informed idiots fail to take the news seriously for an hour. 7 Day Sunday will redress that balance possibly to a fault. And where better to do that than on 5 Live, Britain's premier rhyming radio station?"
Adrian Van-Klaveren, Controller, Radio 5 Live, says: "It's great to be able to welcome Chris Addison to the 5 Live family. He's one of Britain's sharpest comedians and the new show will be a great addition to Sunday's line-up on 5 Live."
7 Day Sunday is part of the new 5 Live schedule from 10 January.
From 9.30am every Sunday Kate Silverton will examine the big story of the day, look back over the week in politics, and be joined by a special guest for an in-depth half-hour interview; guests for early 2010 include General Sir David Richards, Alastair Campbell and Rory Bremner.
There's also a new look to the 5 Live weekday schedule from Monday 11 January with Victoria Derbyshire's mid-morning programme, with the best of original journalism and keynote interviews, now running from 10.00am to 12noon, Monday to Friday.
Gabby Logan joins the daytime schedule with a new lunchtime programme (Monday to Friday, 12noon-2.00pm) with the latest news and business stories and George Riley has the day's sports news. On Wednesdays the programme will come live from Westminster when Gabby will be joined by John Pienaar and political guests for Prime Minister's Questions.
Richard Bacon presents a new afternoon show (Monday to Thursday, 2.00-4.00pm) focusing on current affairs, entertainment and culture. The show will feature key interviews and lively discussion as well as up-to-the-minute news updates.
Tony Livesey takes over the reins of the late night topical discussion and phone-in on the day's major talking points (Monday-Thursday, 10.30pm-1.00am). Tony taps into the views and experiences of listeners from across the UK, hearing their thoughts on the day's news.
Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode present a new two-hour film show (Fridays, 2.00-4.00pm) with the Sony Award-winning film review, including major interviews with the movers and shakers from the movie industry.
You can listen to 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra via DAB digital radio, digital TV and online at bbc.co.uk/5live. Radio 5 Live is also on 909 & 693 AM.
Chris Addison stars in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two's BAFTA-winning comedy The Thick Of It and recently appeared alongside James Gandolfini and Peter Capaldi in Armando Iannucci's hit feature film In The Loop. As a live performer he has taken five solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe (two of which saw him nominated for the Perrier Award), while his previous radio credits include: the Sony Award-winning The Ape That Got Lucky; Charm Offensive; Political Animal; Civilisation; and The Department, all for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4.
7 Day Sunday is an Avalon Television production for 5 Live.
