In the wake of President Obama's new strategy on Afghanistan – and further troop deployments by the US and the UK – Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One's Question Time will be debating from Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire on 10 December 2009.

The panel includes: General Sir Richard Dannatt, the former head of the British army; the Armed Forces Minister, Bill Rammell; the shadow Foreign Secretary, William Hague; and the broadcaster and former Mirror editor, Piers Morgan. David Dimbleby hosts the programme which transmits on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One at 10.35pm.

In November, the 100th funeral cortege passed through the town centre.

Question Time editor, Ed Havard, said: "Wootton Bassett has come to symbolise the nation's respect for fallen servicemen and we have already had a huge number of people apply to take part in this programme and to debate the issues with leading figures such as Richard Dannatt, Bill Rammell and William Hague."

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1 will be joining up with Question Time in Wootton Bassett and will present an outside broadcast from the town the day after the debate.
