Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two commissions new Stephen K Amos comedy show

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ announced today the commissioning of a new series starring Stephen K Amos. The series, which will air on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two, will comprise six 30-minute episodes combining stand-up, sketch characters and audience participation with hidden camera antics.

The Stephen K Amos Show (working title) will introduce numerous comical characters from "Frank", the fashion conscious security guard at the BΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reception, to "Paul Hammer", the stuntman who doubles for white actors. All characters are played by Stephen, including his mother, "Buki", who Stephen makes phone calls to during the show. Each week, Stephen will be joined by a number of celebrity guests such as Robbie Williams, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, who starred in the pilot.

Cheryl Taylor, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Controller of Comedy Commissioning, said: "We are thrilled to have Stephen as a regular fixture on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two. He is a unique and compelling comedy talent and the perfect presenter for this new show."

Janice Hadlow, Controller Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two, said: '"Following the recent success of Miranda, I'm delighted to welcome another great talent to the channel and give Stephen K Amos the opportunity to really shine in his own television show."

Stephen K Amos said: "Obviously I'm thrilled – although now my mum will find out I'm a stand-up comedian. She thinks I drive a minicab."

The series was commissioned by comedy commissioning and Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two, Janice Hadlow. The executive producer is Jo Sargent and the series will be produced by Simon London.

The show is due to go into production early next year.
