Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show searches for favourite bedtime story

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show today invites listeners to vote to find the nation's favourite bedtime story.

From Monday to Friday this week Jeremy is joined by former children's laureate Michael Rosen as the show features eight stories which have made it through to the final vote.

From Monday to Thursday two books a day will be featured and Michael and Jeremy will be joined by two champions who each campaign for a different book.

The favourite bedtime story will be revealed on air on Jeremy's Show between 12noon and 2.00pm on Friday 6 November.

Listeners voted for the following eight stories from a long list of 36 titles:

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – Roald Dahl
Each Peach Pear Plum – Janet and Allan Ahlberg
Five On A Treasure Island – Enid Blyton
The Gruffalo – Julia Donaldson
The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe – CS Lewis
The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Eric Carle
Where The Wild Things Are – Maurice Sendak
Winnie The Pooh – AA Milne

The long list was compiled by the Jeremy Vine Show, Michael Rosen and in consultation with The Reading Agency, the Youth Libraries Group and the Association of Senior Children's and Education Librarians.

Voting opens at 12noon on Monday 2 November and closes at 2.00pm on Thursday 5 November.

Listeners can vote via bbc.co.uk/radio 2. The site also features a short extract of each of the shortlisted stories, voiced by Jeremy.
