Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Somerset's new Breakfast presenter announced

Andy Burrows

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Somerset has announced Andy Burrows as its new Breakfast presenter.

The 37-year-old arrives from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Cambridgeshire where he presented the station's Peterborough breakfast show for four years, winning a record audience for the station.

Andy said: "I'm honoured to have been chosen to present the breakfast show on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Somerset.

"Every day, we'll be talking about the subjects that really matter to people in Somerset, holding the people who shape our lives to account and celebrating what makes the county so great. I can promise this – it'll be fun, fast-paced and we'll get as many listeners' stories on air as we can. To host the show will be a real privilege."

Managing Editor, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Somerset, Jess Rudkin, said: "I'm really looking forward to hearing Andy on our new Breakfast show. He has a very strong background in reporting local news, plus he's guaranteed to get everyone's day started with a giggle."

Andy, who is married with two-year-old twin daughters, joined the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in 2004. Before that, he spent more than a decade working for local, regional and Sunday newspapers.

Andy will take over the show in September 2009.

For the past three years it's been presented by Adam Thomas, who is moving to present a new Drivetime programme with Elise Rayner, and who also has a new Sunday breakfast show in the pipeline for the autumn.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Somerset's Breakfast programme is broadcast across the county, Monday to Friday, on 95.5 FM.
