The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ announced today that Mark Grinnell is to be the new Managing Editor of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon.

In his previous role Mark was in charge of running local news throughout the UK for the country's biggest commercial radio group. His responsibilities included news strategy and content, and the training and development of staff, a role in which he won a National Training Award in 2008. Β

Prior to that, he worked for ITN as an editor for their radio news bulletins, as well as presenting and reporting for London's LBC Radio.

He's been involved in judging national radio competitions for several years, including the Sony Radio Academy Awards.

Mark's career started in the South West, presenting travel reports for Radio Devon and West Country Television.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark said: "Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon has a hugely loyal audience. Like me, they're passionate about this part of the country and, by tuning into our radio station and using Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Devon online, they love to strengthen their connection with the local area.

"I'll be joining the team on Monday, moving with my family back to the county I love, and I can't wait."

Welcoming Mark back to Devon, Jane McCloskey, Head of Regional and Local Programmes for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in the South West, said: "Mark will be a great asset to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ South West and brings a wealth of experience to his new role. I'm very much looking forward to working with him."

Mark Grinnell will take up his new post on Monday 17 August 2009.
