Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Merseyside's drivetime show will be changing its name to Green For Go to mark a week of programming dedicated to environmentally-friendly living.

Beginning tomorrow (Friday 26 June), Green For Go, presented by Claire Hamilton, will be covering issues from allotments and community composting to wind turbines, green schools and how green architecture can help shape space and communities.

University of Liverpool will be measuring Radio Merseyside's carbon footprint and looking at ways to offset it, whilst reporter Jimmy McCracken will be taking on a series of environmental challenges throughout the week, beginning with a day living without gas and electricity.

Show producer Angela Heslop said: "We asked our listeners to come up with a new name for the show that was more environmentally-friendly than 'drivetime' and had some great suggestions.

"2009 is Liverpool's Year of the Environment so it seemed a good idea to take the idea further and make it a week-long theme.

"We chose Green For Go because it still reflects the 'on the go' nature of the show but also the environmental ethos of the week."

During the week listeners will be asked to help set Jimmy's green challenges and on Friday 3 July there will be stalls and activities at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Merseyside studios on Hanover Street where the public can come and find out more about 'going green'.
