The voice of Sussex in the morning, Danny Pike, is back with a new mid morning show for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sussex and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Surrey.
Going live next Tuesday (26 May), the new programme also marks a homecoming for the presenter – he began his successful radio career above the Friary in Guildford, working on Surrey station County Sound.
In preparation for the new job Danny's been out and about talking listeners to see what the show can do for them, whether it's a bit of giggle, a bit of rant or even a chance to help someone out.
He says: "I've been out and about asking people what they are doing between 10 and 1 and shopping, drinking coffee and chatting seem to play a big part!
"But I know a lot of people are also hard at work. So we really want to give them a listen that helps them through their day – the right music, the best guests and some good engaging stories.
"My style is still the same but I want to make sure that we are talking about the things that really matter to people in Sussex and Surrey, and do it in an entertaining way. Even if we are talking about a heavyweight subject I think it's important to have a balance.
"So we'll be making sure we are capturing all the celebrities as they pass through. We've got some great venues in the region attracting the big names and I want to make sure we take advantage of that."
But, says Danny, the real stars of the show will be the audience: "I can give my opinion, and play the music, but it's people's stories and experiences that make great radio and also provide the opportunity to celebrate all that's great about Sussex and Surrey.
"Whatever people are doing I would love to hear about it. You may have salsa-danced your way to a new figure or even a new husband, or perhaps we can help you improve life in your community.
"Let us know what's going on and perhaps we can all get together to give you a hand."
The Danny Pike Show launches on Tuesday 26 May 2009, 10.00am-1.00pm, on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sussex, 95.3, 104.5 & 104.8 FM and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Surrey, 104 & 104.6 FM.
