Five Golden Globe nominations for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films' Revolutionary Road and The Duchess
Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road and Saul Dibb's The Duchess, two co-productions from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Films, the feature film-making arm of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, have received five Golden Globe nominations today, with Armando Iannucci's In The Loop selected for the Premieres section, and Lone Scherfig's An Education competing in the World Cinema section at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival.
Μύ
Revolutionary Road has four Golden Globe nominations – Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Actress (Kate Winslet), Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Best Director (Sam Mendes).
Μύ
Based on the celebrated novel by Richard Yates, and adapted for the screen by Justin Haythe, the film re-unites five-time Oscar nominee Kate Winslet and three-time Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio for the first time since the 1997 all-time box office hit and Oscar-winning Titanic, in this heart-rending story of thwarted passion and the search for fulfilment.
Μύ
Producers are John N. Hart, Scott Rudin, Sam Mendes, and Bobby Cohen. Paramount will release the film across the UK on 30 January 2009.
Μύ
Ralph Fiennes is nominated as Best Supporting Actor for his work in Saul Dibb's box office success The Duchess.
Μύ
The film, starring Keira Knightley, Hayley Atwell, Charlotte Rampling and Dominic Cooper, is a very contemporary tale of fame, notoriety and the search for love, based around that female icon of her time, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.
Μύ
Producers are Michael Kuhn and Gabrielle Tana. PathΓ© distributed the film in the UK, and handle world sales.
Μύ
Set to have its World Premiere at the upcoming Sundance Festival is Armando Iannucci's razor-sharp political comedy In The Loop, starring Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi, Gina McKee and Steve Coogan, and produced by Kevin Loader and Adam Tandy.
Μύ
The US President and UK Prime Minister suddenly fancy a war. But it'll be quick this time. Promise! The US General Miller doesn't think so and the British Secretary of State for International Development, Simon Foster agrees with him.
Μύ
But, after Simon accidentally backs military action on prime-time TV, he suddenly has a lot of friends in Washington, DC.
Μύ
Similarly Sundance bound is Lone Scherfig's An Education, starring Peter Sarsgaard, Carey Mulligan, Alfred Molina, Rosamund Pike, Cara Seymour, Dominic Cooper, Olivia Williams and Emma Thompson.
Μύ
Nick Hornby wrote the script about a 17-year-old girl who meets an older man in Sixties London.
Μύ
Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey produce, with Odyssey Entertainment. Μύ
