Pullin' The Devil By The Tail

New Irish language animations on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔΜύNorthern Ireland

A series of new award-winning Irish language short films is coming to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two Northern Ireland next week.

Μύ

On Tuesday (2 September) at 7.40pm Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two NI will screen The Beautiful Ones, The Goblin Market and Pullin' The Devil By The Tail, three six-minute animations looking at the darker side of folklore and myth, an imaginative and visual treat which will enchant and amuse.

Μύ

Another award-winning film, The King's Wake, will screen on Wednesday (3 September) at 7.40pm.

Μύ

This film, which won a Celtic Film and TV Best Animation award, is a gripping murder mystery set on a terrifying night in the life of King Conor of Ulster.

Μύ

The story is narrated by Conor himself, an ageing king isolated in his palace with only the memory of past glories to sustain him.

Μύ

Finally on Thursday (4 September) at 7.40pm local audiences will get a chance to see CΓΊ Chulainn. Produced in 1994 for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ NI this series has become a fixture in the local broadcast schedules.

Μύ

However, this is an opportunity to see a reworked version of this production with a new soundtrack and Irish language performances.

Μύ

The animation project was produced by Raw Nerve Productions and financed by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ NI and the Irish Language Broadcast Fund through Northern Ireland Screen.

Μύ

Pearse Moore, Series Producer, says: "We are very excited about the broadcast of our Irish language project, as this is a new avenue for Raw Nerve Productions. The work put in by everyone involved was fantastic.

Μύ

"These animated films highlight the wealth of talent available in Northern Ireland with local writers, directors, actors and animators all involved in the production."

Μύ

This series of animations will follow the three-part Flight Of The Earls series originally shown on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One NI in 2007.

Μύ

Presented by Antaine Γ“Donnaile, the series will run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week at 7.00pm on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two NI.

Μύ

The series investigates the events that led up to the Flight of the Earls, one of the pivotal episodes in Irish History and the effects it had.

Μύ

The Flight Of The Earls series was produced by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Northern Ireland in association with the Irish Language Broadcast Fund.
