Summer in the city as Radio Nottingham's Big Night Out returns

Following the success of last November's Big Night Out, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔΜύRadio Nottingham returns to the city centre on Thursday 7 August 2008.

The programme of live entertainment from 6pm will bring the city centre to life and Radio Nottingham presenters are out in force sampling the various activities and edible delights available.

Big Night Out is the innovation of Radio Nottingham breakfast show presenter Andy Whittaker who hopes this Big Night Out can build on the work from last year and demonstrate that the city centre after dark is not just for youngsters.

Andy says: "I think the last Big Night Out proved that the image of the city centre is changing.

"People who hadn't been into Nottingham at night for years were pleasantly surprised and I'm sure that making the most of the lighter summer evenings this time round will make it even more popular."

Last year's Big Night Out had the city centre buzzing with hundreds of people enjoying great food and a variety of activities.

With even more venues now involved offering special deals, Andy hopes that this Big Night Out can help spread the message that nights in the city centre offer something for everyone.

He says: "The support from venues in Nottingham has once again been fantastic.

"It will all help to prove to those who still aren't convinced that this is a vibrant and cultured city at night."

Once again the event is supported by Nottingham City Council and Nottingham BID (Business Improvement District).

Leader of Nottingham City Council, Jon Collins, shares Andy's enthusiasm about the event's return.

He says: "We were pleased to support last year's first Big Night Out and I'm delighted that Radio Nottingham are planning a re-run after such a successful and popular event last November.

Radio Nottingham's Breakfast Show will provide daily coverage over the coming week on the wide variety of family friendly events that will feature in the Big Night Out.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Nottingham's Big Night Out kicks off at 6pm on Thursday 7 August 2008 in the Old Market Square with the official Big Night Out photo taking place at 6.30pm.
