Ìý

The Aberdeenshire-born musician, who was awarded an OBE in 1993, performs more than 100 concerts a year and has collaborated with international artists including Sting and Bjork.

Ìý

A Proms veteran, this will be Dame Evelyn's first Scottish Proms in the Park show.

Ìý

She says: "I have had the good fortune to be part of several Proms in the Park experiences over the years and it goes without saying that I am hugely excited to be participating in my first Scottish Prom. I can feel the crowd already!

Ìý

"These events are very special and really act as a celebration of music-making within the UK as a whole.

Ìý

"We know the power of music and the arts and what better place to share it than in the vibrancy of a great city like Glasgow.

Ìý

"Rain or shine, this will be an event not to be missed."

Ìý

Glasgow-based bagpipe band the Red Hot Chilli Pipers were propelled to musical notoriety in 2004 after they appeared on the main stage at T In The Park.

Ìý

Hailed as the "world's first rock and roll pipers", the eight-piece band put a modern spin on piping and drumming, with an emphasis on showmanship.

Ìý

Founded by Stuart Cassells, former Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, the cult outfit have played alongside rockers The Darkness and count Ewan McGregor, Phil Collins and HRH The Princess Royal among their growing legion of fans.

Ìý

Stuart is certain the band will bring a unique angle to the Proms In The Park experience.

Ìý

He says: "No matter the weather, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers look forward to spicing up Proms in the Park in Glasgow – making sure it's a party to remember.

Ìý

"The band are excited to be entering new territory with collaborations and new music but will also put on the fantastic musical and visual show that we have become known for, continuing in our aim to take bagpipes to a wider audience."

Ìý

Proms presenter Jamie MacDougall believes this year's event is one not to be missed.

Ìý

He says: "Proms In The Park Scotland sees a welcome return from Evelyn Glennie – one of Scotland's finest international artists. This quine is the Queen of percussion.

Ìý

"I'm delighted to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers on the Proms In The Park billing this year – these guys have rocked the world to the sound of pipes."
