You're not Nancy! Rachel's dream is over
Rachel's dream is over as she becomes the ninth contestant to be eliminated from Â鶹ԼÅÄ One's I'd Do Anything.

After a public vote Rachel and Samantha were the least popular Nancys and Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save Samantha.
Ìý So Rachel is the ninth Nancy to leave the competition.
Ìý
In Saturday's live show, all four remaining Nancy finalists performed solo renditions of musical theatre numbers chosen to show viewers that they have the skill and sheer charisma to carry one of the most challenging roles in musical theatre.

In addition to this Jodie and Samantha performed a duet of Superstar from Jesus Christ Superstar and Rachel and Jessie performed Buenos Aires from Evita.

After performing their songs and receiving feedback from Andrew Lloyd Webber and the expert panel of John Barrowman, Denise Van Outen, Barry Humphries and Cameron Mackintosh, the Nancys faced a nervous wait for viewers to cast their votes.

On Rachel's performance Denise said: "Everything that I've been looking for. Rachel that was phenomenal, you were absolutely fantastic, I am shaking with excitement. We all jumped to our feet and gave you a standing ovation. That is everything we want to see from our leading lady and how the other girls are going to follow that performance. it's going to be tough for them tonight. That was absolutely brilliant."

Barry said: "We did this funny little mission this week in a strange part of the East End and you were great, you were the finest performer really as an actress and tonight you gave a star performance Rachel, congratulations."

John said: "If there's any confusion, here you go – that was Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. This girl is an actress, she has the ability to play any character and she definitely has the ability to play Nancy. She should be in the final next week."

Cameron said: "By George she's got it. You took a wonderfully well-known song and you infused it with your own personality. You rose to the challenge, it was absolutely terrific and I would love to see you play Nancy on the West End Stage."

Rachel and Samantha gained the least amount of votes and had to sing a rendition of one of Andrew's own songs, Memory, from the musical Cats.

Then, for the last time, it was up to Andrew Lloyd Webber alone to choose which Nancy should be saved for the final week.

Andrew said: "Well, first off, I'm sure Cameron's going to share this with me, this is the most devastating moment because Memory was sung by a young cat to the older cat and it was everything about the first show that we did together and I know if I may say that last night Cameron and I were both saying that we thought both of you would be fantastic Nancys and now here am I faced with this.

"I mean really it's an impossible choice because on the one hand Samantha you're fabulous you've got everything ahead of you, Rachel you did a wonderful performance last night of Cabaret and I really don't know what to say.

"But I've got to make a decision and I've got to think of where the show ultimately for Cameron is going to go and I think I have to go with you Samantha.
Ìý
"And it was a fantastic performance tonight, I just know you've got this huge career ahead of you and also I have a sneaking suspicion you'll play Nancy. One day. You were fantastic." Ìý
After hearing the announcement Rachel said: "I'm absolutely devastated that I didn't make it into the final. After getting into the last 12 that was my aim.

"It's been the most unbelievable experience of a lifetime and I don't regret a single minute of it. I'm glad I went out on such a high." Ìý
The final three – Jessie, Jodie and Samantha – will go on to next week's final where they will again perform for the nation who will decide who should be Nancy in the new Cameron Mackintosh West End production of Oliver!
