The Culture Show in Glasgow

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland's Pacific Quay headquarters is to be the joint home of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two's The Culture Show as it moves to a new primetime slot.

From Tuesday 3 June, the arts magazine programme – a key cornerstone of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two schedules – will move into the 10.00pm Tuesday slot, currently occupied by Later With Jools Holland, with an extended programme on Fridays at 11.35pm.

Roly Keating, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two, said: "The team in Glasgow have been part of the success story of The Culture Show since its inception in 2004, working in tandem with team members on the series in London.

The Culture Show on 10 June – the first from its Glasgow base – will feature an interview with 27-year old Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

Like his fellow members of the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, Dudamel is the product of El Sistema, free musical education for some of the poorest young people in Venezuela. Simon Rattle called Dudamel and El Sistema "the most important thing happening in classical music today"; and a similar scheme is being established in the Raploch estate near Stirling.

Andrew Graham-Dixon takes to the Scottish skies to look at land art along the M8, with a drop-off at Charles Jenck's astronomy-inspired Garden of Cosmic Speculation in Dumfries and Galloway, as well as music fromΜύElbow and Richard Hawley.

Towards the end of its summer run, The Culture Show – which is presented by Lauren Laverne and Mark Kermode – will transfer from London and Glasgow with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland part of the team taking the helm for three specials from the Edinburgh Festival, screening as the rest of the run on Tuesday nights with an extended programme on Fridays.
