Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Headroom searches for the nation's most inspiring books

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Headroom is teaming up with libraries across the country to compile the definitive list of the nation's most inspiring and comforting books.

Μύ

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Headroom's campaign executive Nina Bell says: "Books can have such an impact on our mood and sense of wellbeing: they can make you laugh when you need picking up, they can comfort through empathic storytelling, provide calm when your mind is racing or inspiration to face life's ups and downs.

Μύ

"A good read can be truly life-enhancing. So Headroom is joining forces with libraries up and down the country to try and track down the nation's favourite 'pick me up' reading which help us to unwind our minds."

Μύ

Readers can make their suggestions on recommended read cards in libraries during May - the National Year of Reading's Mind and Body Month - and the results and suggestions will be published at bbc.co.uk/headroom next month.

Μύ

A number of libraries are also running Headroom activities throughout May.

Μύ

Libraries in Camden (London), Flintshire, Greenwich (London), Haringey (London), Hendon (Sunderland), Kent, Nottinghamshire, St Albans, Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent and Surrey will all be participating with workshops in creative writing, music, dance and film-making alongside book groups, yoga sessions, stress-busting surgeries and chill-out zones.

Μύ

This range of activities will be taking place during May 2008 as part of a joint initiative between Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Headroom and the 2008 National Year of Reading Mind and Body Month.

Μύ

Headroom is a cross-platform campaign from Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning to encourage people to look after their mental health and wellbeing.

Μύ

Headroom's main aim is to raise awareness of simple steps that people can take to help look after their own mental health and improve their lives.

Μύ

Be it exam stress, relationship headaches, insomnia, anxiety or depression, Headroom will provide support and information, as well as offering individuals the chance to share their experiences in a safe environment.
