Ross cooks maggot stir-fry for Gordon Ramsay
Grub's up! Tonight, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross has a cuisine theme when Jonathan Ross cooks up maggot stir-fry.
Μύ
His rare excursion into chat show cooking is in honour of guests, the irrepressible chef Gordon Ramsay making a welcome return to the Ross sofa and explorer Bear Grylls.
Μύ
Bear, who's admitted to imbibing elephant excrement on his adventures, and Gordon, who recently sampled bull's penis on his own show The F Word, are unwilling spectators as Jonathan attempts (and fails) to create something edible from leaves, tree bark ... and live maggots.
Μύ
Gordon, who turned 40 last year, admits that he's beginning to notice the signs of ageing: "I'm slightly achy in the morning, the joints are starting to hurt."
Μύ
But he still loves his rigorous work regime: "No two days are the same, that's what makes it so exciting."
Μύ
He talks about his latest challenge, opening a restaurant in Manhattan, and the reaction of New Yorkers: "It's a tough place. They want to discover you, not confirm you, they're hard to please."
Μύ
He also reveals that it's common practice for chefs to go commando during a long, hot shift: "I've gone commando, everyone does it (although you keep your checks on, of course), you don't want to cook in hot, sweaty pants. It's a chef thing!"
Μύ
Bear, who recently became the first person to parajet over Everest, talks about his own passionate pursuit of a hectic lifestyle: "Everest was a huge dream for me from the age of eight. After five years in the Army I had a parachuting accident.
Μύ
"I broke my back in three places, spent 18 months in rehab. It should have killed me. The dream of Everest became the focus of my recovery. On Everest you're right on the threshold of what humans can achieve [but] I'm no longer brave enough to go back up that mountain."
Μύ
This week's line-up also includes Tori Spelling (Beverley Hills 90210) who stars in her own new Living TV reality show Tori And Dean Inn Love, and admits that her favourite paying guests would be Posh and Becks: "I'd love them to stay in my B&B. She's lovely, I love her style."
Μύ
And there's music from The Klaxons performing live in the studio.
Μύ
The programme is a HotsauceTV/Open Mike production for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One.
