Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra appoints new Leader
|
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra announced the appointment of Andrew
Haveron as Leader, sharing the role with Stephen Bryant.
Μύ
His first
concert will be on 17 July 2007 when he leads the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Proms concert conducted
by David Robertson.
Μύ
The highest British prize-winner at the prestigious Paganini Competition
for the last 50 years, Andrew Haveron is one of the UK's busiest
violinists.
Μύ
Since 1999, he has been leader of the internationally-acclaimed Brodsky Quartet, and has also enjoyed frequent invitations to
guest lead major symphony orchestras including the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ orchestras, the
LSO, RPO and Philharmonia.
Μύ
Born in 1975, Andrew took up the violin aged five and has studied at the
Purcell School and London's Royal College of Music with Dr Felix
Andrievsky.
Μύ
Since making his concerto debut aged 15, he has appeared with
conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington, Kent Nagano, Stanislaw
Skrowachewski, Raymond Leppard and John Wilson, performing a broad range
of well known and less familiar repertoire.
Μύ
Andrew plays on a violin made for him in 2001 by the American luthier Sam
Zygmuntowicz.
Μύ
Paul Hughes, General Manager of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra, said: "An
extensive search process lasting over two years drew to a close
when Andrew Haveron accepted my invitation to join the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony
Orchestra as Leader, sharing the role with Stephen Bryant.
Μύ
"Working with a
search panel from across the orchestra, together with Chief Conductor
JirΓ BelohlΓ΅vek, we felt overwhelmingly that Andrew's superb musicianship
and playing, the wide range and breadth of repertoire he explored as
leader of the Brodsky Quartet (which reflected that of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ SO), and
his natural leadership skills mark him out as the man for our job.
Μύ
"We
look forward to exciting times ahead."
Μύ
Andrew Haveron said: "The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Symphony Orchestra has the right mix of
challenging and new repertoire alongside the more familiar that has
always inspired me in my musical life.
Μύ
"I have already experienced and
enjoyed the power of this formidable ensemble and I can't wait to get
stuck in!"
