Poll for Radio 4's PM suggests union between England and Scotland has positive benefits

An opinion poll conducted for PM on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 suggests that the Union between England and Scotland has given positive benefits.

Μύ

The survey, carried out by ICM to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union, suggests that 80% of Scots and 57% of English people believe the Union has been of benefit to them.

Μύ

More than three-quarters of those surveyed in both countries said they thought the Union flag was a positive symbol of Britain, while majorities in England and Scotland would also support the creation of a Britain Day to celebrate a national sense of togetherness.

Μύ

Asked how they most readily identified themselves, 54% of respondents in Scotland considered themselves more Scottish than British, while 40% of people in England said they felt equally British and English.
