Prosper With The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ: Last days to enter young entrepreneurs' competition

Prosper With The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, the business competition launched by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Swahili earlier this month, is in full swing across East Africa.

Μύ

Swahili-speakers aged 16 to 24 in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and other countries are invited to submit their proposals on how they can start a successful business with US $2,000 that would also have a positive impact on their community.

Μύ

The winner of the competition, which closes for entries on Wednesday 2 May 2007, will address the Commonwealth Business Symposium during the Commonwealth Heads of State Summit in Uganda in November, and win US $2,000 and a laptop computer.

Μύ

The second and third runners-up will be awarded $600 and $400 respectively, plus a mobile phone.

Μύ

The results will be announced at Kilimanjaro Hotel Kempinski in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and broadcast live on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Swahili radio and online, via bbcswahili.com, at 6.30pm (EAT) on Wednesday 27 June.

Μύ

Head of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Swahili, Solomon Mugera, said: "Prosper With The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ encourages young talented people to realise their entrepreneurial potential and win a chance to have a good start in life. It is about helping young people to do well for themselves and their communities. This idea is present throughout our programming.

Μύ

"We listen to young audiences across Swahili-speaking Africa as they have their say on vital issues affecting their lives in programmes such as Kimasomaso. We also help them, as they look for a better future for themselves and their communities, through programmes such as Uchumi on Dira ya Dunia, which gives our listeners tips on how to succeed in business."

Μύ

Prosper with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is open to Swahili-speakers aged 16 to 24-years-old.

Μύ

Further information about the competition and how to enter is available online at bbcswahili.com.
